So I’m super-excited. I have my beloved #21 jersey on and I’m going to the Colts-Bengals pre-season game tonight at the new Lucas Oil Stadium!! Isn’t it pretty with that giant window in front?!
Unlike past games I’ve attended, and future games I will attend, I’m more excited to go inside the new stadium than I am for the football game. I watched last Sunday’s game on TV and when the cameras spanned the new stadium, showing the sites, the people, the open roof and the skyline visible through that giant window – oh it gave me chills! But the weather forecast has a chance of rain tonight. If that happens the roof and window will be closed.
“Dear God. Please keep the rain away tonight. Tomorrow would be fine, I know we need the rain. Thanks, Karissa”
And yea yea, don’t give me that “true fans like pre-season too.” It isn’t at all that I don’t like pre-season, it’s just that I’m realistic and I know that pre-season doesn’t hold much significance in the grand scheme of the football season. We lose most of them, but I’m convinced it’s because we learn so much during those games that it allows us to really focus and do well the rest of the season. But of course I’m excited to see the team run out to the field, for the national anthem to play, for the first play, the first Colts touchdown and the crazy excited blue and white fans. I love football season, so how could I not love pre-season? It kicks off the rest of the season! And this season, we have a brand new stadium!
I am a little bummed my #21 isn’t playing tonight, but rest up Bobby, the rest of the season starts next weekend!
Tomorrow I’m sure I’ll have more photos from the inside!

Have fun at the game tonight Karissa! I ended up getting tickets from a friend and will be there too. Too bad Peyton won’t be able to play.

I know, JW, major bummer on Peyton’s knee!! But we gotta have faith he’ll be back Sept. 7 like they’re saying. At least they’ve been calling a date and sticking with it, unlike Marvin’s mysterious status last season. Give me a wave tonight!

Did you know that you can receive text messages that tell you if the roof is going to be open or closed for the game? You can sign up on the Colts Web site…
You usually receive the text a few hours before the game…

You can not only sign up for the LIDS report to be updated on the stadium roof, but also updates on team news, game score and player stats. So say you really like, oh I don’t know – Bob Sanders [love], you can select his name and be updated on his stats throughout the game.
And I should note, this is all ala cart – so if you sign up for one thread, you’ll only get those updates. Here’s that link on the Colts site:
